REVIEW: Game’s Jesus Piece

Game dropped his 5th studio album with interscope records called Jesus Piece on December 11, 2012. The album was originally named F.I.V.E (Fear Is Victory’s Evolution) but was changed because of other albums that were coming out with a similar name like Trey Song’s Chapter V but nonetheless Game still managed to deliver another captivating and concept driven album as always. Even tho this is Game’s first album that didn’t make the number 1 spot on the billboards u can’t deny the work Game put into this project, from the very controversial deluxe album cover to the hilarious skits at the end of some of the records with comedian Kevin Hart Game as always made fun music, gangster rap and those tracks where he gives u insight into his thoughts, forever a very blunt and comical individual.

In Game’s eyes he has his own philosophy that god is somebody like him. That he has fears, that he hurts, that he learns from his mistakes and try to be a better man each day so the concept for this LP really infused religion and the typical topics game addresses on his songs so that explain song title’s on the album like Church, Blood Of Christ, Pray and See No Evil. This project was packed with super star features on almost every record and even though Game always has a good amount of features on his previous work Jesus Piece is the first album where Game did only four records by himself. There was a track produced by Dr. Dre called Dead People where Game gets spooky and gives his listeners a tale of murderous fantasies truly one of my personal faves on the album. Another record that should be looked out for is Blood of Christ where game steps in his regular mode and insults certain rappers in the game like G Unit, Shyne and even a remark to the puff man Diddy was mentioned, this track definitely will be one of those songs u have on repeat.

One noticed detail on Jesus Piece is the maturation and growth in Game, he address a lot like the ongoing beef with Jay-Z on Heavens Arms to the point he apologizes for the slander, diss records he threw towards jay in the past. So this shows you that game his an artiste that gets better with time, he has come a long way from his younger days as an G Unit Knuckle Head to one of the few rappers that keep Compton alive and well in people’s eyes and the music in their ears and Jesus Piece is definitely a album u can dance to, vibe to, smoke to, have sex to, very versatile because game is a very versatile California rapper. Don’t let the persona fool you.
